Victoria Day Weekend fireworks in Ballantrae is always a popular event.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Victoria Day<\/a> weekend is almost here, and for most of us, this much anticipated long weekend is the unofficial start of Canada\u2019s summer. Which is probably why we often celebrate it with fireworks to start the season off with a bang!
\nIn Whitchurch-Stouffville, it marks the beginning of another summer line-up of exciting events, attractions and activities that\u00a0truly reflects the charm of living in a small town.<\/p>\n

So, as part of our ongoing Whitchurch-Stouffville series<\/a>, let\u2019s take a look at a few of the events on tap for this summer:<\/p>\n

Victoria Fireworks and Family Movie Night<\/strong><\/span>
\nSunday May 17, 2015:<\/em> A tradition at the Ballantrae Community Centre<\/a>, this free event starts at dusk with fireworks, then stay afterwards to watch a movie outdoors \u2013 this year it\u2019s Penguins of Madagascar<\/a>. The perfect night for the whole family, don\u2019t forget to bring the lawn chairs!<\/p>\n

Classic Car Show & Sidewalk Sale<\/span><\/strong>
\nThursday May 21, 2015: <\/em>In partnership with the Royal Canadian Legion<\/a>, exhibitors from across southern Ontario will cruise into town for this event. Visitors will be treated to a first hand look at great classic cars, plus a downtown merchant<\/a> sidewalk sale, and plenty of oldies music will played and performed at each end of the street.<\/p>\n

The Stouffville Car Show include a Sidewalk Sale for downtown merchants to join in the event.<\/p><\/div>\n

Doors Open Stouffville<\/span><\/strong>
\nSaturday June 6, 2015:<\/em> A celebration of community heritage, Doors Open Stouffville<\/a> invites residents and visitors to discover the town’s hidden heritage treasures. This year\u2019s lineup includes the Lebovic Centre for Arts & Entertainment<\/a>, Richmond Hill Live Steamers<\/a>, Treetop Trekking Stouffville<\/a>, the Toronto Electric Model Aviation Club<\/a> and the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Doors<\/a>

Doors Open invites visitors to tour a restored log cabin, Victorian farmhouse and heritage schoolhouse.<\/p><\/div>\n

Stouffville Strawberry Festival<\/span><\/strong>
\nJune 26-28, 2015:<\/em> The Stouffville Strawberry Festival<\/a> is a York Region<\/a> tradition, and an annual event that unites the entire town – from Joyride 150<\/a> bike demonstrations for the teens, to outdoor movies for the younger kids, the festival offers a street market<\/a> of crafts and artisan vendors, a strawberry social, carnival and dunk tank, even a festival pub with live entertainment<\/a> for the adults. All in downtown Stouffville.\u00a0\u00a0 This year the Pan Am Torch Relay<\/a> comes through town on the evening of Friday June 26th, which is also opening night of the Festival! The fun continues with fireworks on Canada Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Annual Stouffville Strawberry Festival is a much celebrated event.<\/p><\/div>\n

Stouffville Country Ribfest<\/span><\/strong>
\nAugust 7-9, 2015:<\/em> Located in lovely Memorial Park, walking distance from downtown Stouffville, the 3rd<\/sup> annual Ribfest<\/a> features national BBQ pitmasters music, marketplace, and a Kids\u2019 Zone with amusements and inflatables. The ReMax Hot Air Balloon Rides<\/a> will be back on Saturday, weather permitting. A family fun event, where the admission is free!<\/p>\n

\"Napkins<\/a>

Napkins are mandatory at the Stouffville Country Ribfest, dig in!<\/p><\/div>\n

Moonlight Madness<\/span><\/strong>
\nThursday, August 20: <\/em>Back by popular demand \u2026. Latin Night! Main Street<\/a> will be filled with a variety of Latin dancers\/performers. From fire-eaters to jugglers, this event is a wonderful wrap-up to an unforgettable summer in Stouffville.<\/p>\n

Moonlight Madness on Main Street, Stouffville.<\/p><\/div>\n

And I didn\u2019t even get time to talk about the summer outdoor movies that run every Friday night in Memorial Park <\/a>or the popular Farmers Market<\/a>, Thursdays in the downtown core.
\n\u201cThis summer\u2019s line-up is filled with exciting and unique events that reach out to everyone from families, to single people, or to visitors looking to explore,\u201d says Anna Rose, downtown Co-Ordinator for the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.<\/p>\n
