Educating Home Buyers On “Behind-The-Walls” Building Practices
On Saturday, March 2, 2019, Geranium held an educational tour of a home under construction at its new community of Allegro in downtown Aurora. The tour took guests through a pre-drywalled home where they were informed about the building practices that go into a Geranium home, termed a “Hard Hat Tour”. Two groups of approximately 30 individuals were taken on a “behind-the-walls” guided tour through the home, opening as a Model Home this summer, by General Site Superintendent Brent Shaw and Allegro Site Superintendent Guy Marcello. Each group spent up to 60 minutes viewing the basement, main floor and second floor, while learning how Geranium builds above Ontario Building Code and applies best practices in construction methods and materials to ensure a high-quality home for its homeowners and generations to come.
During the past 9 years, when construction programs permit, Geranium has organized informative Hard Hat Tours. The response is always excellent, and participants leave with current knowledge about the complex building process. Guests also receive a “Construction and Craftsmanship” book to take home, highlighting items showcased during their tour.
Geranium has created many master-planned communities such as The Neighbourhoods of Cardinal Point in Stouffville and Friday Harbour Resort in Innisfil, and built more than 8,500 homes in Ontario. For over 40 years, Geranium has had a reputation of providing top-quality construction and high caliber finishes, installed with meticulous attention to detail.
