The Aurora Cultural Centre has announced The Mayor’s Celebration of Youth Arts, as part of February Youth Arts month at the Centre. The public is invited to view the original works by Grade 12 students of Aurora schools, which will be on display in the gallery from February 3 to March 3, 2018. The participating schools are: Aurora High School, Cardinal Carter Catholic High School, Dr. G.W. Williams High School and St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School.
Town of Aurora Mayor Geoffrey Dawe is a long-time supporter of youth arts expression in Aurora. “I am pleased to be part of such a special event showcasing the talented artwork of youth in Aurora. This expanded and updated event helps foster the artistic skills and abilities of young, budding artists. It gives youth an opportunity to express their creativity, passions and feelings in an open, non-competitive environment,” he said.
With Geranium’s generous support the reception program has expanded to include a launch for the Visual Arts and, for the first time, a Youth Performing Arts evening showcasing music, film, spoken word, and more!
“As a returning new home builder and member of the community, Geranium is pleased to lend our support to this terrific showcase of young talent,” said Stephanie Lane, Marketing & Sales Manager.
Since 2011, the Aurora Cultural Centre has engaged graduating youth artists through professional exhibiting opportunities known as Youth Arts Program. In 2018, the program has expanded to the Mayor’s Celebration of Youth Arts. The exhibited art displays the artists’ motivations and technique practices bringing forward a world commonly hidden within the high schools’ studio walls.
In 2017, Geranium returned to the Town of Aurora with Allegro – a magnificent master-planned community situated within an established residential neighbourhood between Yonge and Bathurst Streets.
