Habitat For Humanity and Geranium

Giving back to the communities in which Geranium builds has always been an important part of the company’s philosophy. They are proud to continue to support Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization that works to provide affordable housing for families in need.
Geranium first partnered with the organization in 2016 on one of their GTA Blitz Builds in Stouffville, Ontario and the relationship has continued over the years.

Women (re)Build 2022
On Friday, June 10, six members of the Geranium Team donned tool belts to help construct new townhomes at 485 Normandy Street in Oshawa as part of this year’s Women (re)Build initiative. This post-pandemic program invites teams of women and friends to reconnect with each other on a build site and rediscover the power of community while helping less-fortunate families. The Normandy Street project is currently in its first phase, which will provide Habitat Homeowner Partnerships for 18 lower-income families in the Oshawa area.

Everyone Deserves A Decent Place To Call Home
Throughout the GTA and beyond, thousands of families live in unhealthy, unsafe, crowded homes that still cost more than they can afford. Habitat for Humanity GTA is working to reverse the negative impact of substandard housing by building homes and communities that will remain affordable for families for generations to come.

The day of the Build, Geranium took the opportunity to present a cheque, a $2,000 donation, to Habitat for Humanity Durham Region as a special Thank You for their recent People’s Choice win at the Durham Region Home Builders’ Association Awards of Excellence.

Reconnect, Rediscover and Rebuild Change
Thanks to volunteers, Habitat for Humanity has been able to move 417 lower-income working families, including 1,251 children, into homes in the GTA and Durham since 1997. The experience of owning a home gives families strength, stability, and self-reliance and helps to build strong, thriving communities.

Similar projects are currently under development in other areas, so there are many more opportunities to experience the team-building power of the classic Habitat Build first-hand by working alongside Habitat GTA volunteers and the future homeowners themselves.

Volunteers Make It Happen
When communities come together to give families a hand up in a time of need, it helps build a more inclusive, better world for everyone.

There are many opportunities to volunteer throughout the Habitat organization including:
• Deconstruction Volunteer
• Volunteer Administration Assistant
• Restore Volunteers
• Restore Warehouse Volunteer
• Build Site Volunteer
• Procurement Volunteer
Rally your team together and register to volunteer on a project near you!
