Celebrating the Holidays In Aurora and Midhurst ❄️

Scroll down the blog to see your chance to win a $50 gift voucher from one of our local attractions! This is always a wonderful time in our communities, and to help with the planning, we’ve put together some highlights to get the jump on the season.

AURORA
Hit The Ice
As the weather gets cooler take the time to enjoy the outdoors, and there’s no better way than with some fun on the ice. Even if you’ve never learned, or your skills are a little rusty, don’t worry, you’re in luck. Aurora’s Skaters First program is dedicated to teaching children, and adults, the joys of skating, so strap on those blades and give it a try.

Guess Who’s Coming To Town?
Aurora’s annual night time tradition continues with the Santa Under The Stars Parade on November 27. It’s a night of magic with spectacular floats, mascots, marching bands and of course, our special guest – jolly old St. Nick. Anyone attending the parade is required to wear a mask.

Getting Ready For The Holidays
DYK Aurora’s Christmas Market has been named one of the Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario?! Discover seasonal vendors, hands-on workshops, games and activities for the whole family at the Aurora Christmas Market Dec 3-5, Dec 10-12.

For those who like to decorate their home or business, and for those who just like to see all the great ideas, Aurora lights up with festive spirit. Aurora’s Deck the Halls Tour is a drive-by event of some of the wonderful outdoor displays throughout the city!

Keeping It Real
Nothing beats the look and smell of real Christmas tree and, depending where you live, there are lots of great choices for cutting your own.
It doesn’t get much better than Horton Tree Farms. Cut down your own tree, and enjoy complimentary wagon rides, hot chocolate and outdoor bonfires, everything you can imagine for a true old-fashioned family adventure.

Family First Night
Family First Night at the Aurora Leisure Centre gives families the chance to say goodbye to 2021 with skating, swimming, reptile shows, magic shows, crafts, face painting, inflatables and rock climbing. Don’t miss this unforgettable way to ring in the new year.

MIDHURST AND AREA
Hometown Hockey
Don’t miss Rogers Hometown Hockey as it shines the national spotlight on Oro-Medonte, from November 6-8! Enjoy a full weekend of outdoor hockey festivities for all ages, including live entertainment and immersive augmented reality experiences at Horseshoe Resort. The fun wraps up on Monday night with a live outdoor viewing party of an NHL game broadcast with Ron Maclean and Tara Slone on site to host the celebration.

Wye Marsh Welcomes Winter
As the temperature drops things heat up at the Wye Marsh Nature Centre with a host of winter activities. Bundle up and explore a 500m boardwalk and over 25 km of winding trails, perfect for bird-watching and cross-country skiing. Kids will love Winter Wild Things where they can meet Trumpeter Swans, hand-feed chickadees, try a snowshoe obstacle course, learn to track animals and more.
On November 13, you can discover your artistic talents and develop your skills with water colour and soapstone carving workshops at the Art in the Marsh event.
